Portales and Roosevelt County Infrastructure: Communications

Community development in Portales, New Mexico is made easy by a network of high speed fiberoptic cable, installed in each alley within the city limits. Yucca Telecom, a certified local exchange carrier, completed the installation of a citywide network of high speed fiberoptic "Category 6" cable in 2008, supporting the most demanding online data and entertainment needs for city residents. KENW-TV, located on the campus of Eastern New Mexico University, offers three (and soon four) fully digital PBS stations and an FM station that broadcast throughout New Mexico and West Texas. A number of additional radio and television stations are available free to air. Yucca Telecom, Qwest, Comcast, Dish Network, and Direct TV provide a variety of bundled communication services at competitive rates. Cellular phone providers include Yucca/Plateau Wireless, ATT, Sprint, Alltel, and other carriers.
